And to another he said, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” But he answered him, “Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.” And another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say farewell to my family at home.” Jesus answered him, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.” LK 9:59-62
The person who follows God, he must contend with temptations. Jesus says not to turn your back. The devil always encourages man to reversal. If you have a strong relationship with Jesus, you do not succumb. Today, ask Jesus for perseverance in the vocation to the priesthood or marriage. God wants to give you the strength. Remember – do not turn your back!
I consider all things so much rubbish that I may gain Christ and be found in him. PHIL 3:8-9
Lord Jesus, thank you for the grace of vocation! Please strength to persevere in it.
